Jeremiah started his journey with HireLevel working as a Manufacturing Associate at Aisin in 2021. With hard work and dedication, he has moved his way up the ladder and is now a Supervisor at Aisin. He is the FIRST placed candidate chosen for HiFive of the Month.
Can you tell me your story, how it all started at HireLevel, and where you are now in your career?
In April of 2021, I was released to the Halfway house in Marion IL from the Federal Prison. I applied with HireLevel, met Jessica, and went to work at Aisin Light Metals on 2nd shift almost the next day which was a really great thing considering my situation. I quickly impressed my bosses with my work ethic. I ran my line like it was a contest trying to beat everyone’s production numbers. I also worked any overtime that I could and to my surprise if I produced my bosses were willing to give me 12 hours a day. In approximately 60 days I was hired on with Aisin Light Metals.
You started at Aisin and have moved up in your career there. Please tell me more about Aisin the culture, benefits, etc. Why do you love what you do?
Aisin did not judge me for my past, HireLevel did not judge me, and this really motivated me if I came to work and produced to the best of my ability, they had my back. If a person works for us and they have an issue with their children, living conditions, vehicle, or health if a team member is honest with HR, I have seen this place work with them. If a person loses their job here, it’s because of themselves and their actions.

Any career/life advice to others to help get them to where you are today?
I want to succeed coming from the lifestyle I had made an honest legal life is the most rewarding thing. I truly feel if it wasn’t for this place I would possibly be back in prison. These people here at Aisin Light Metals didn’t look at me as an ex-felon or drug addict they looked at what and how I worked, nothing else. They gave me respect and I appreciate it. Last year, I took my wife to 4 concerts, hotels, vacations, etc. I now have credit cards and can pay all my bills on time. I have security that I have never known through legal means. So given that, I will always try and do my best here because I’m going to keep moving up. I give 120% of myself to this company because they will give the same energy.
Why do you refer your friends to HireLevel?
I want others to have the same life I have. I wish everyone could feel like I do. I’m happy, sure I have bad days here, but the question is always how can we improve? If a friend of mine needs work I send them to Jessica, she helped put me here. In Southern Illinois, I know many who need a second or even third, or fourth chance. HireLevel and Aisin will give you an opportunity so it’s important to show up, give it your all, and learn as much as possible. Sometimes it’s not easy, but that’s ok because this place has done more for me than they know, they gave me life. Looking back 2 years ago, I was in a prison camp and was scared that no one would hire me. Today, I’m in college and manage approximately 40 people, and 24 production lines, all because these people gave me a chance.
