How Developing Your Team Leads to #TheGreatEngagement
Mar 2, 2022
In today’s workforce the mass exodus of team members leaving their current jobs has impacted our everyday lives; our day-to-day, department, and even the entire organization. With 95% of the workforce considering a change in career, your business could lose that team member before they even start. How can you turn “The Great Resignation” into “The Great Engagement”?
Great question, this is something that HireLevel deals with day in and day out. As a staffing agency we have heard it all; better pay, more benefits, closer to home. Even when you roll out the red carpet to your team, your people can leave and they will.
Well, there isn’t one particular answer, it depends on the individual. While the pandemic has changed how we think about our workday, remote work has impacted the way we view our time. With workers becoming more accustomed to working remotely or with a more convenient lifestyle they just want MORE. They do not want to go back to hour-long commutes or “business professional” attire, they want the freedom that has been afforded to them with the current recruitment and hiring market.
Ask yourself, how can I retain the employees that I have and recruit the top talent my business needs?
When was the last time you changed up your job description? It is a candidate market, and you must sell your job. Are your “must-have” requirements turning great candidates away? When you take a chance on people without the bullet-pointed experience you produce loyalty.
If you are considering adding to your team in 2022, HireLevel can help you cast a wide net to find the quality candidate that you’re looking for. Take steps towards the Great Engagement by partnering with a dedicated recruitment team.

“Nothing we do is more important than hiring and developing people. At the end of the day, you bet on people, not strategies” – Lawrence Bossidy, chairman and CEO of Honeywell.
So, you have gone through the hiring process, sent them through training, and they are starting to learn about their individual roles. Do we just leave them to never check in again? No, our next step is to build them up as pillars in the company. Team members leave, there is no getting around that fact. But when you invest in your team’s wellbeing and professional development you are creating opportunities for your organization to build a stronger foundation. You can’t control the #TheGreatResignation, but you can be proactive to build positive relationships and investing in people while you’ve got them. You want to constantly improve your current team members and give them opportunities to grow.
At HireLevel, we are in the business of changing lives. When you make a positive impact on lives, for whatever amount of time your paths cross, they become your advocates, your fans. They become a part of the group of people “most likely to tell others” about you. We have many past employees who send referrals are way. What better way to know that our investment was worth it!
You don’t know what you don’t know. As a leader if you aren’t open and honest with your team about the mistakes they make or the opportunities available, how can your team improve in the future?
HireLevel leaders meet with their individual team members monthly to discuss wins/challenges, goals, and career paths. Having open communications can help your department avoid office conflict, drive culture fit and create alignment, share ideas and innovation, and help you catch little problems before they cascade into larger issues. One of the most critical aspects of these regular, frequent communications is learning about and understanding your team members’ personal whys and being able to connect their personal why with their role and goals. This is where the magic happens. This is where the #TheGreatEngagement kicks in.
How often do you meet with your team members?
– Discuss the career growth opportunities with each individual team member. “Here’s my notice” can be contagious, but it can easily be changed to “I just got promoted” or my boss recognizes my contributions to this organization.
– Conducting exit interviews allows you to listen to why your team members are leaving. Identifying the areas of improvement will allow you to be proactive with your current workforce.
– Invest in your team members, when you show your willingness to develop your employees they can see that you value them and want to continue seeing their growth in the future.
HireLevel established the #HiFive Campaign in 2018 because we wanted to acknowledge the outstanding performance of our internal and external team members. Each branch of HireLevel submits a candidate that they believe shows the Five-Stars of a #HiFive Team Member. To learn more about the #HiFive Team Member of the Month Program click HERE
Not only does this program take the time to congratulate our amazing team members but we also take the time to connect with our outstanding clients.
Congratulations to Cliff Durr and Damien Brendel!
