Our Thoughts
HireLevel Origins: Small Town, Big Business
Feb 8, 2017
Over two decades ago, in the small town of Johnston City, Illinois, Teresa Katubig established what was then called Extra Help, Inc.—a temporary employment agency. Though the area may have had the nick name Little Egypt, Teresa – a Southern Illinois University Carbondale alum – knew Southern Illinois was anything but little. It was growing, and it was industrial. People needed work and companies needed people to get the job done. Her passion for community growth and development pushed Teresa to quickly expand Extra Help, Inc. to include payroll services. Today, Extra Help, Inc. which rebranded to HireLevel in 2016, is operating out of eight offices in five states. As a “firm believer in keeping business local,” Teresa and HireLevel continue to support all local businesses in Southern Illinois through their location in Marion, IL.
HireLevel in Marion, IL is much more than a temporary employment agency. The staffing and recruitment specialists are experienced in temporary, temp- to- hire, and direct hire employment for opportunities from light industrial to professional. This office is also home base for our payroll and tax team who are working with clients in over 45 states on a daily basis.
No matter who you ask at the Marion office, you will be told the office motto is work hard, play hard. Getting the job done and done well is a team effort from the ground up. Regional Manager, Samantha Nelson, says “our team is so diverse. I love that each one of us has a specialty and we can collaboratively bring out the best in each other to reach our goals.” On a particularly busy day, you will even catch the payroll team lending a hand to the staffing team. That, right there, is the HireLevel difference.
At the end of the day, the team loses together and wins together. Most importantly, they laugh together and celebrate together! From birthdays and anniversaries to holidays and, let’s just be honest, week days are always a good excuse to have a celebration—a food celebration. Eating is the office hobby, and if it’s cake it won’t last long. Also, having a no desk lunch policy means they spend lunch together daily. Perhaps, this is why they say they feel like a family. When noon on Friday rolls around, they head over to either the local Thai or Mexican restaurant, Thai D or Don Sol. As office Friday favorites, the restaurants probably plan to see the HireLevel Marion team for an hour every week.
All that eating gives the team the fuel they need to power through the day’s projects. No matter what the project, the goal is no job goes unfilled. HireLevel is eager to contribute to the community by putting people to work. While auto manufacturing and professional administrative opportunities are endless in Southern Illinois which make those positions a team specialty, new opportunities do come available on a daily basis. As 2017 is in full swing, HireLevel Marion—committed to all Southern Illinois local businesses– is excited to collaborate with more companies and meet fresh talent. People are everything and finding the right people is what HireLevel does best.
HireLevel has been a great recruiting source for Aisin Manufacturing Illinois (AMI) in all areas of employment for the past several years. Amanda, the Staffing Specialist, in charge of our account and the HireLevel staff are always available and willing to go the extra mile to ensure her employees are well taken care of. They have pulled through again and again ensuring placement of trained employees happens quickly and efficiently. Thanks for your hard work! We appreciate it!
