Summertime Rock Star
May 31, 2016
Isn’t this picture demotivating?! When your boss sends you this and all you can think about is being on the beach, too! Not a cloud in the sky. The unspoken rule is that the summer season runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day, and this is the time of year when employers might find themselves debating flexible work schedules, less restrictive workplace summer dress codes and planning summertime activities and events.
Summertime is a great time of year for employees to feel more relaxed as they anticipate lower work volumes, vacation time, less stringent dress codes, and flexible work weeks.
But why does it have to be only summertime that work is less stressful or flexible? Hiring interns or new graduates is a great way organizations can fill in the gaps during the summer vacation months. Interns and new graduates can bring fresh new ideas and perspectives that could benefit your organization.
Let’s face it baby boomers are out. Millennials are in. How you raise the bar for hiring your next Rockstar is your call as a business owner or decision maker. However, now is the time to reevaluate your company culture and operations. Whether it’s summertime or not consider evaluating these topics:
Compressed Workweeks/Flexible Work Schedules
Internships: What Employers Need to Know
Vacation Requests
Work-sponsored Activities
So, now is the time to take action by evaluating your company culture and add in a little fun to attract and retain the new Millennial generation.
